Are you a dedicated Social Worker with a passion for supporting children and young people with disabilities? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our Clients’ Disabled Children and Young People Service Team. In this role, you will play a vital part in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, ensuring they lead fulfilling lives despite their disabilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide reliable and effective social work support to safeguard and promote the welfare of children in need, ensuring they maintain a reasonable standard of health, development, and a sense of permanence. For children with disabilities, take action to minimise the impact of their conditions and help them lead as normal a life as possible.
- Identify cases where children cannot remain at home and take timely action to secure permanence within a suitable timeframe. Ensure that looked-after children’s needs are addressed according to their care or pathway plans, helping them progress and achieve their full potential.
- Implement child-centered practices by making children the focus of professional assessment, planning, and intervention. Actively seek and incorporate their views and wishes, appropriate to their age and understanding, to tailor the support and intervention provided.
- Offer effective professional leadership to ensure collaborative work among professionals to meet the needs of children, including those with child protection plans, privately fostered children, looked-after children, and care leavers.
- Collaborate with parents and carers to strengthen protective factors and mitigate risks to the child’s welfare. Build rapport and trust to encourage positive behavioral changes or, when necessary, seek alternative arrangements for the child’s safety and well-being.
- Work closely with foster carers, special guardians, prospective adopters, and other individuals caring for children to ensure their needs are met. Support their transition to adult life and help them progress in health, development, and education.
If you are passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of children with disabilities and their families, we encourage you to apply. Join this dedicated team and help shape the future for disabled children and young people in the community.
