Job Description

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Planner or Principal Planner to join our Clients’ Development Management team within the Place Management Group. This role offers a career progression opportunity based on job responsibility, experience, qualifications, and personal performance. The ideal candidate will be responsible for handling a variety of planning applications and providing expert advice, while contributing to the development and management of the community environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and process a range of planning applications, from minor householder and advertisement applications to more complex major projects.
  • Provide accurate and up-to-date planning advice to colleagues, council members, and the public, based on legislation, technical standards, and council policies.
  • Represent the Council at planning appeals, including preparing written representations and presenting cases at informal hearings and public inquiries.
  • Support Senior Planners in Planning Control Committee and Conservation Advisory Committee meetings, including presenting cases as needed.
  • Offer expert advice to the Enforcement Team Officers regarding planning regulations and policy compliance.
  • Work closely with the Development Management Team Leader and contribute to team objectives, including policy analysis and research.
  • Represent the Development Management Division in corporate working groups and joint working initiatives as required.
  • Participate in ongoing training and development programs, working towards professional qualifications and career progression within the Development Management division.
