The Substance Misuse Intervention Officer will play a vital role in supporting our clients efforts to reduce drug use among young people and create a safer environment. This position focuses on delivering early interventions to deter young people from starting substance use and supporting those already engaged in misuse to reduce harm.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted support to young people at risk of or already engaged in substance misuse, utilising both one-to-one support and group interventions.
- Increase awareness of substance misuse among young people through the delivery of information, advice, and guidance to facilitate informed decision-making.
- Collaborate with Insight Enfield Sort It! to establish referral pathways into treatment for young people engaged with the Youth Development Service, ensuring effective communication and coordination.
- Assist young people receiving substance misuse support in accessing Youth Development Service activities as part of their intervention and upon exiting support.
- Promote the early intervention substance misuse project to partners such as children services, schools, colleges, police, and third-sector groups.
- Conduct substance misuse screenings as appropriate and make referrals to Insight Enfield Sort It! for further assessment and treatment, ensuring continuity of care.
- Ensure effective safeguarding of all young people referred to and supported by the program, promptly addressing any safeguarding concerns.
- Integrate principles of equality, diversity, and anti-discriminatory practice into all aspects of youth work, promoting inclusivity and fairness.
