Job Description

Your primary responsibility as a Child and Family Social Worker is to ensure the safety and well-being of children in need of help and protection or in public care. You will work closely with children, young people, and their families or carers to build trusting relationships and facilitate positive and sustainable change while managing risks effectively. This role emphasises the use of Motivational Social Work and trauma-informed practices to support families in crisis.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build strong relationships with children, families, or carers to prioritise child protection and assess risks effectively.
  • Identify and analyse risks, protective factors, and the impact of trauma on children and parental capacity.
  • Utilise evidence-based approaches to assist families in setting and achieving meaningful goals for sustainable change.
  • Review and adjust intervention plans regularly to ensure effective risk reduction.
  • Report risks through appropriate management channels to maintain accountability and ensure timely action.
  • Engage in reflective supervision to enhance competence and confidence in professional practice.
  • Continuously evaluate case practice through self-reflection and consultation for ongoing improvement.
  • Use case recording to inform analysis, extend understanding, and uphold accountability for provided services.
  • Maintain productive relationships with peers, managers, and leaders across various professional settings.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely through written case notes and reports, providing well-argued analyses and rationales for actions taken.
