Job Description

Our Client in Bath and North East Somerset is looking for the ideal candidate to join their dynamic team as a Family Support Specialist, working under the general supervision of a Team Manager or Deputy Team Manager.

In this crucial role, you will be responsible for assessing, planning, and implementing the needs of children and their families. Your primary focus will be on ensuring that Children in Need, Children in Need of Protection, and Children Looked After have comprehensive service plans tailored to address their identified needs. Collaboration with resources within Social Services and other external agencies may be essential to provide the best support and care for the families under consideration.

Role Specifics

  • Execute responsibilities in alignment with the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, and relevant legislation.
  • Develop and implement service and care plans for children and families, adhering to local and national procedures.
  • Manage a caseload, including cases with complex needs, requiring multi-agency coordination.
  • Enhance life chances for Children in Need and Children Looked After.
  • Contribute to team plans and achieve targets for Children in Need, Child Protection, Children Looked After, and Care Leavers.
  • Ensure effective communication with staff, service users, the public, and others.
  • Participate in cross-service initiatives and establish/maintain effective internal and external working relationships with relevant organisations and agencies.
  • Collaborate with the Team Manager in formulating detailed team objectives and policies.
  • Assist in ensuring the Team's services address community needs, identifying and effectively addressing equal opportunity and health and safety issues.
  • Demonstrate personal resilience in managing demanding situations within a supportive management environment.
  • Always maintain confidentiality, recognising the potential for upsetting situations in the course of Children’s Services work.
